Shop Manager

As the shop manager you will be a key member of the retail team with a focus on consistent operational excellence, delivery against commercial objectives and supporting your team whilst having full responsibility for the running of the shop. Every retail shop contributes directly to the delivery of vital patient care for both Dorothy House and Salisbury Hospice Charity.

The way we shop is changing with ever more consumers looking for alternatives to fast fashion. Right now, the retail shops are undergoing transformation. With ambitious plans for become leading high street destinations, this is a key post to the Dorothy House retail team. 

​

Retail stores are at the heart of our communities. The Hospice Shop raises vital funds and helps increase awareness of the incredible care carried out by both Dorothy House Hospice Care and Salisbury Hospice Charity. Underpinned by the shared values of  'care, create and connect' the absolute focus in this role is on delivering commercial objectives whilst maintaining operational excellence.

 

If you are seeking an exciting and rewarding new challenge, possess the ability and determination to lead and inspire a team then we want to hear from you. You will lead a team to deliver the best customer experience and key duties will include:

  • To ensure there is sufficient stock, efficiently sorted and prepared for sale

  • To ensure that all backstage areas are properly organised and operate efficiently maintaining adherence to health and safety guidelines at all times

  • To ensure best use of space, high standards of display and cleanliness/tidiness in all areas.

  • To ensure stock collection/deliveries are managed effectively and implement the shop price guide in order to maximise sales.

  • To ensure the Gift Aid scheme operates legally and effectively with regard to approach to donors; preparation and sale of stock; recording and inputting onto PC of donor and sales information; data protection in relation to donor details.

  • To train, motivate and manage paid staff and volunteers ensuring that they are competent to prepare goods for display; display and rotate goods; provide great customer service; maintain high standards of cleanliness and tidiness; implement all aspects of the Gift Aid scheme

  • To actively recruit and encourage volunteering within your shops, maintain a volunteer rota to ensure shop is trading at all published times.

  • To ensure the maintenance, safety and security of all parts of the shops premises

  • To provide management cover for other shops as required,

HOURS OF WORK

​

This is a full time position. You will be contracted to work 40 hours per week working 5 days out of 7.

Due to the nature of this role, you may be required to work occasional weekends or bank holidays.

ABOUT YOU

​

Essential requirements:

  • Good standard of Maths and English

  • Strong team worker with the ability to motivate a team

  • Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills

  • Customer focused with an energetic and enthusiastic attitude

  • ​

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience working in Retail or Charity Shop

  • Experience within a management role

  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle
