Welcome to The Hospice Shop

Dorothy House Hospice Care delivers care through an in-patient unit in West Wiltshire and in patients’ homes across much of the north and west of the county.

Salisbury Hospice delivers care to patients and their families in a wide area around Salisbury and by working together, 25% of all proceeds from The Hospice Shop directly support the work of Salisbury Hospice Charity.

When you shop at The Hospice Shop you are making a difference to patients and their families across Wiltshire at a time and in a place where they need it most.

Collectively, we believe that nobody should face death alone and that every member of our community deserves outstanding end of life care.

Dorothy House

Dorothy House believe every life is incredibly precious, and no-one should face death alone.

'We provide exceptional personalised care to people in our community who are approaching death. That means we’ve got you: we’re here for our patients and their loved ones, as much or as little as they need us'.

The standard of care provided by Dorothy House Hospice Care reaches deep into the community. Through ten locally-focused Dorothy House care teams, patients and their families feel prepared for the end of their lives. Dorothy House also facilitates and equips more people to provide the care each of us deserves.

Dorothy House was founded by Prue Dufour in 1976, who opened up her own house on Bloomfield Road, Bath to care for those in need at the end of their life. Dorothy House is now situated in Winsley, near Bradford on Avon and has a 10 bed inpatient unit, Day Services, Therapies teams, a Family Support Team and is situated within stunning grounds, maintained by a team of volunteers.

Salisbury Hospice

Salisbury Hospice believe that, if you have a terminal or progressive illness, you should receive the highest level of care and support – giving you dignity and choice.

'We provide care in the hospice, in the community and in our patients’ home. All care is centred around patient’s individual needs'.

In 1981, under the chairmanship of Dr Peter Gillam, the hospice team initially worked from an office at Salisbury Infirmary in Fisherton Street.

In 2014, The hospice won a grant for major refurbishment and improvements included further en-suite facilities and better patient, visitor and volunteer facilities. Today the Hospice has 10 inpatient beds and the Peter Gillam Day Centre, named after the hospice founder.

Salisbury Hospice Charity supports the care delivered by Salisbury Hospice through a rich and varied fundraising programme.
